Citroen makes all its way to India, to debut with its C5 SUV


Citroen, a famous automaker in the European continent will be coming to India by 2021. The parent company PSA group announced this news at its FY 2018 financial results presentation. The PSA group will be coming to India in the name of its Citroen brand. The group has already stated that from 2021 they will one car launched every year periodically. The cars coming to India would be under the Citroen’s C Cubed Programme.

For the sixth consecutive year, Citroen achieved tremendous growth in the European market. Taking this mantra to India also the company has joined hands with CK Birla Group for R&D services. The company tied up with CK Birla Group for the manufacture of Powertrains, Assembly lines, and other price deciding components. Similarly, The company has also joined with Tata Consultancy services for its engineering targets.

Linda Jackson, CEO, Citroen Brand, and Emmanuel Delay, executive VP, and head of India-Pacific, Groupe PSA said, “We were keen to bring our latest model when we entered India. Hence, we chose the C5, which was launched recently in Europe.”

Coming to the C5 Aircross SUV, it is the flagship model in the present fleet. The model measures 4,500mm in length, 1,840mm in width, 1,670mm in height, and 2,730mm in wheelbase length. So we can understand that its a Mid-range premium SUV. Being an import model it can be a bit costly and can be around 30L (Ex-Showroom). Also, There will be only one engine option offered (i.e.) a 130hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, The details of body design and possible changes related to it are still unknown. However, Citroen C5 Aircross will be coming to India by September 2020.
