The American motors which also has an appreciable market in India recently updated its compact SUV EcoSport. This updated version received much of people’s appreciation. This happiness wasn’t with its customers for a long time as the company calls its models back.
Ford has called a voluntary recall for its EcoSport models once again but this time for the updated version. This is the fifth recall by the automaker because of various technical and faulty issues.
The company announced that the respective users of the model will be informed about the recall very soon. A total of 5,397 units have been scheduled for recall. The model for recall mainly includes that are manufactured in may 2017 to June 2017. Nearly 1000 models from November to December 2017 manufacture period are also present. All of these models were from the plant in chennai.
Ford claims that the faulty weld strength is the main reason for this recall. A control arm set connects the front suspension to its frame. The company claims that “the weld strength on some of these vehicles may be below the company specifications, which in rare cases can potentially affect steering control.”
Front lower control arm connects the suspension of the vehicle to the chassis. The units would be under inspection first and will be fixed.
Another major issue reported is the faulty recliner seat lock on the front passenger side. When compared to the weld problem the seating lock problem has been more reported.
The affected models would be called for inspection and will be fixed by local dealerships. Above all this Voluntary recall would absolutely free of cost.
Ford EcoSport has been one of the most appreciable models in the Indian market. The updated version came with daytime running LED lights. This updated mid-range SUV competes with Suzuki S-Cross and Hyundai Creta. Ther is also a wide range of competition from Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. There is a price tag of Rs 7.82 Lakhs to 11.89 Lakhs. Out of its rivals, EcoSport stands the lowest.
