Mahindra Marazzo to be automatic, get petrol options by 2020


Mahindra has just launched it all new MPV model “Marazzo” very recently with one and only diesel version. Furthermore, Marazzo is present in the Indian market only with a manual gearbox. This newly designed MPV comes with a 1.5-Litre diesel engine that mates with 6-speed manual gearbox.

Even before reviewing the long-term performance of Marazzo, the company has just announced that they would soon introduce a petrol engine option. This shows the level of confidence for the company on this model. 

Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, M&M, says that company has plans to avail petrol engine option of this MPV. At, the same time, the company clarifies that this decision will be in action no sooner than 2020. The management has says that they would launch the petrol version after the new emission norms are India believes that upgrading their BS-IV engine to BS-VI emission norms would be an expensive move. On the other hand, M&M is excising on a new 1.5L petrol engine and experts believe that this one could be an option for Marazzo. Since, there is no exact announcement about the details, we believe that the 1.5L petrol engine would be apt option. 

Another minor update regarding the Marazzo is that the diesel engine that runs currently will be upgraded for BS-VI from BS-IV version that is gaining complaints.

Mahindra will also announce an automatic transmission in the coming future. Marazzo will a compete with Toyota Innova Crysta, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio. While all the other competitors already have the automatic transmission, Mahindra played well with the early launch of automatic version.
