Maruti Suzuki has recently launched its all-new Wagon-R this January, 23. Wagon-R is a long time hatchback model with many unique features all over the years. Many cars came and went but this model stayed there with ups and downs. Suzuki is upgrading its models and now its time for the Wagon-R.
The all-new Wagon-R gets a very unique styling of body design. The front headlight units are taller, the hood sits a bit low and there is a new grille too. When going around, we will definitely find many changes in the car. The all-new 2019 Wagon-R is a flagship model for Suzuki. Certainly, that should be because of its practicality and the mark of 22Lakh sales.
The new version is 30mm long, 130mm wide then the older one and still gives you a regular feeling. The first thing one notices is the front face with unique headlight units. There is a small rectangular air grille with chrome bisecting. Instead of cuts, there are more rounded edges. Though the tall boy styles are there, the car is now more minimalistic with the design. The architecture is based on the new heartect platform, the car is much lighter than before and offers much more space too. Other benefits are the more crash tests performance, lightweight and improved dynamics.
Being more wider, the front nose gets elevated and there is much scope for space inside also. Now, the design may not amaze everyone but will definitely suit the purpose. On the side, you will notice the tall roof is now floating because of the new c-pillar and the cuts and creases are now vanished because of the curved body. The major difference is seen at the rear. There are new vertical taillights and the boot stands a bit high.
The amazing thing is the new dashboard which is very different from those other hatchbacks. Being a tall boy, one can expect to have to minimum space inside but thanks to the heartect platform formula. Suzuki has accommodated the maximum is the best way possible. There is a touchscreen system in the heart of the central console and the gears space runs into the console too. The A/C vents are vertical indicating the efficient use of the available space.
Now, the infotainment system can be integrated with your phone through smart play studio app and is called “aha”. It can be used for internet radio, weather conditions and navigation also. It also works for inner knowledge like mileage, alters too. The rear passengers can use it as a remote and can have three phones connected at once. On the other hand, the seats are spacious and wide.
There will be more space between each person. On the rear, three passengers can travel comfortably as there is more legroom now. One should not complain about the headroom here though. Impressively, this will be the best model for taller people in the segment. Coming to the boot, there is more space (341 litres) because of the length and the rear seats fold down to create more space as well.
Under the Hood:
Suzuki offers two versions of the Wagon-R and both are petrol. One is the 1.2L for 83hp power similar to the baleno, ignis and swift. Another one is the regular 1.0L engine from the older Wagon-R. The model also comes with an optional 5-speed AMT apart from the 5-speed manual train.
The top variant also comes with a host of facilities like rear defogger, wiper, dual front airbags, tachometer, power folding wing mirrors, and front fog lamps.
Wagon-R is generally for the city drivers and so the drive should smooth enough. The car though crushes at initial times, runs perfectly a higher gears. The manual train is about restrictive but comes to 80km mark in 15.69 seconds. Whereas the AMT version can go in just 12.67 seconds.
