Seltos- Kia’s debutant in India, will be on Indian roads from 22 August.

Kia is all set launch it’s first vehicle ‘Seltos’ in India on August 22. While the bookings have already begun from July, 16. Surprisingly, Kia received 6,046 bookings on the first day itself. Kia is all set to dispatch it’s first ever SUV from its Anantapur Production Facility in Andhra Pradesh.

Coming as a premium SUV, seltos- would be running on the sidelines of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, XUV 500 & MG Hector. Seltos looks to be very symmetrical in dimmensions and apt to the Indian Automobile Society. Coming as a debutant model, Seltos stands majestic and looks dynamic. This SUV is all LED treated from headlights to fog lamps. The body gives a shining look and the symmetric design makes it eye catching.

However, the side profile especially the shoulder line gives a dynamic look to the car. The high & bold wheel arches for the 16-inch alloy wheels and the rising window line make it look unique. Coming to the back, the bold chrome plate and LED tail lights gives a feel of heavy car.

Interestingly, the interiors are fully accommodated with all necessary facilities and buttons. The dual tone dashboard with standing up 10.25 inch fully touch infotainment system is a perfect blend. The leather upholstery and high roof makes enough space to enjoy long rides.

Being a 5 seater SUV there is a lot of space in the second row and the boot too. Kia says that Seltos is based on the next gen Hyundai Creta. Kia’s version is 45mm longer, 20mm wider but 45mm shorter than the current gen Hyundai Creta. Incidentally the wheelbase is also 20mm longer and the boot is of 28L more capacity.

There is a cabin air purifier, a sunroof, ambient lighting and many more that are yet to be disclosed. Seltos will be coming 3 power options- 2 petrol and 1 diesel.

Engine:

The 1.5L petrol provides 115bhp power & 144Nm torque and comes with a choice of CVT. Similarly, the 1.4 L petrol version puts 140bhp power & 242Nm torque with optional 7-speed dual clutch automatic gear train. The 1.5L diesel mill gives 115bhp power and 250Nm torque with 6-speed auto gear system.

On the other hand, since Seltos has not been to the dealerships yet. So, the real performance on the Indian roads. However, the prototype models looks and gives a feeling that they are well equipped to the face Indian market.
