There will an all-new SUV from Mahindra in an interesting venture. Mahindra is coming up with many collaborations into the Indian sector. Recently, Mahindra has launched another model under its badge. The Aultrus G4 has come to India under Mahindra’s badge. The model is taken from its sister company Ssangyong.
This is not the first time that Mahindra is collaborating with foreign companies. Renault came into India through Mahindra with its Logan. This car later got added into the Mahindra’s fleet. This was the first collaboration Mahindra took up.
Lastly, Mahindra is coming up with Ford Motors to produce a mid-range SUV. This understanding comes very interestingly as two big companies are coming in a different way. Mahindra has a lot of following in-demand vehicles like SUVs and off-road vehicles. On the other hand, ford has a very unique technology. With this co-development, there is a sure expectation of increment in Ford’s market share in India.
“Having identified several area for joint development, both companies will continue to work together to develop products using common product platforms” says Pawan Goenka, MD, M&M Ltd.
The new SUV will be coming with Ford’s DNA and Mahindra’s platform and geartrain. The platform is said to coming from the all-new next generation XUV 500. The new SUV will have a code name of W601. Though Ford is planning to launch its all-new Kuga in this year. We may expect that kuga can be the one to be updated. To the contrast, Kuga will be coming to production this year anytime. So there are equal chances for a new model to be named.
