eZS electric SUV from MG, will be in India 6 months after the Hector

Morris Garages, the all-new participant in the Indian Market has confirmed its second launch way before the Hector comes to production. Incidentally, the second model also is an SUV but with some difference. As the name itself reveals, the all-new MG eZS is an electric SUV.

MG is coming with its Hector in June 2019 and its second offering eZS will be coming in December 2019. With the government encouraging electric vehicles in India, many companies are electrifying their fleet. With the government’s subsidies and incentives through its FAME scheme, many companies Citroen and Kia have already come to Indian base.

Speculations say that MG eZS would be priced around 25L competing with all-new Hyundai Kona, Isuzu MU-7, and Toyota Fortuner, etc. At first, a set of 250 units will be imported from Shanghai through the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notification. MG will get the model through the CBU route.

MG has displayed its model at the Guangzhou Motor Show November last year. Apart from the Indian market, MG will be stepping in Australia, Germany, Thailand, and the UK too.

The eZS will be her with a 52.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. The company claims to have 400km plus range. On the other hand, The tests reveal that the models will have a range of 350km in one single charge. It would take a time of eight hours for full charge. The battery pack will be coming from SAIC (parent company of MG) which already uses the same for other products also.

MG is expecting to localize 75 percent of its first model in India. The company will be starting its production at Halol plant, Gujarat from GM India. The plant will be having a capacity of 80,000 units in the first phase. Furthermore, The company is planning to increase its capacity to 2,00,000 in its second phase.

Looking at the launch pictures we can say that the new model will be giving a tough competition to many existing models. The front gets the signature big honeycomb grille with huge MG label. Furthermore, the headlamps are in sweptback style with LED treatment and may come with projector units.

By the side profile, we can say that it will be a Mid-Range Premium SUV. The body style is curvy with bulges all around making it look stylish. At the back, the boot stands bit high and the taillights are also LED ones.

On the other hand, the Indian version may have significant changes and will be announced by the company before the actual launch.
