Ferrari Portofino is all set to be launced in India

Ferrari is all set launch its Portofino model in India by September 28, 2018. The entry-level vehicle from Ferrari will be replacing its California model with this step.

The Portofino is an advanced version of the Ferrari’s California. This model made its debut in Italy last year marking Ferrari’s 70th anniversary. The company claims that the chassis of the car has been redesigned for the main objective of reducing the overall weight while improving torsional rigidity. The weight of the car is down by 80kg while the car is 35% stiffer than before.

The car has its name from an Italian fishing village and is known for its sporty style and aerodynamic body. Portofino has an inspiring design with a large grille and L-shaped LED lights that give an evil smiling look to the car. At the back, the bumper stands little bit high, thus creating a sloping body.

There is a 3.9 Litre twin-turbo V8 engine powering the give. This is the same engine that is in California T but there is a progression for an additional power output. This engine now produces 600hp @7500rpm and 760Nm @5250rpm of power and torque respectively.

Portofino is the first GT from Ferrari’s electro-mechanical steering system while other models have hydraulic steering. The company claims that there is a 7% reduction steering ratio for making it more responsive.

On the inside, there is a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, 18-way electrically adjustable seats and an 8.8-inch touchscreen display for passengers. The new Portofino has an all new wind deflector for cutting air flow by 30% when the top is down.

This model is one of the most important models for the company in India. Dieter Knechtel, CEO, says, “The California was one of the most successful models in Ferrari’s history. Portofino offers higher value and verstaility than California for more of a sportscar-minded market”.

Currently, there are two dealerships in India and the new Portofino will be present for sales in both of them. The launch of the model will give in the New Delhi showroom on September 28, 2018.
