Kia will be coming with the SP concept based SUV to India. With this model, Kia would be making its debut into the Indian market. For the first time, the production-spec model is spying all around.
Though the release of the model is in the second half of 2019, Kia is preparing itself well in advance for the release. The spy shots reveal that the production model will stick to the design cues from the concept in AutoExpo 2018.
The outgoing model just like the concept carries a strong face and shoulder line. The new model comes with the signature “Tiger-nose” grille with slim styled headlight units in continuation. Just like the upcoming SUV’s, there are large fog lamps also just beneath the headlights.
While the total design of the production-spec model is still unclear, the spy shots reveal that there are more curves at the back with tapered glasshouse till the rear side. The side profile is yet to be specified but the strong shoulder line is evident.
The new SP-concept may share its engine options, transmissions and many others specs from the Hyundai Creta. Furthermore, from the spy pictures, the model more or less resembles the Creta. However, a closer look reveals the bigger rear door and the decently sized quarter glass behind the C-pillar. Overall, the SP-concept SUV will be longer than Creta. There can be horizontal styled taillights with chrome accents in some places.
On the inside, the model may get widescreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, and many others.
The new factory in Andhra Pradesh will be the base for the production and assembly of the SP concept SUV. The company is also planning to get the Kia Grand Carnival MPV by 2020. The new models under planning can be showcased at the AutoExpo 2020.
