MG Hector is going to launch very soon in India and the company has released some official pictures of the model. Although the DriveIn event couldn’t give us much news for you even at the press conference. To all our surprise MG has released the pictures just at the end of the event.
Through the pictures all the speculations regarding design, structure, and amenities. A Few months ago Baojun 530 was launched in China. Experts from different regions predicted that the 530 would be the first Indian SUV from the MG.
Interestingly, much of the outer specs are almost identical to its Chinese twin SUV. We expected Hector to have solid projector headlights and Creta like structure. Unfortunately, all our expectations are not the model except for the dominant front grille.
MG Hector comes totally LED Treated both at the front and back. There a very slim LED headlamps at the corners of the hexagonal grille. The grille comes with honeycomb mesh and the superimposing MG symbol. Down the face, there chrome finish air intakes and black twin bar beneath the grille. Even the fog lamps are LED treated.
On the side, One can notice the fluidic yet bold body structure with bulged wheel arches and high roof. On the other hand, The back is very heavy in looks. The boot stands too high and the overhang at the rear is a bit awkward. Due to a massive body structure, the alloy wheels look relatively small but their size is still unknown. The taillights are very stylish are dominant because of the light bar connecting both of them. There are reflectors above the heavy bumpers also.
The MG Hector options will include a 1.5-litre, 143hp turbo-petrol, a 2.0-litre, and an FCA-sourced diesel engine too. There will be a six-speed manual for both the engines. On the other hand, the turbo-petrol can also get an option of a six-speed, dual-clutch automatic gear train. Also, there will be a 48-volt mild-hybrid version that is said to be 12 percent more efficient than the petrol one.
Among the features, the outstanding and most anticipated one is the voice control infotainment system. Though the interiors are yet to be revealed, we can see a huge touchscreen on the dashboard in advertisements. Ther would a 360-degree camera, six-way adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, keyless start/stop button, and tyre pressure monitoring system too. The voice assist system comes with preloaded applications, and the ability to receive- over-air updates.
MG is planning to roll out its Hector by June 2019. The price of the car can be around 15L- 20L (Ex-Showroom) and will be competing with All new Tata Harrier, XUV 500, and Hyundai Creta. With this launch, mid-range SUV sector will be very much competitive.
