Suzuki crosses 2 crore production mark with its all new swift


It has been 34 years since Suzuki has stepped into the Indian market. Furthermore, it has bagged 2 crore production rate with the launch of its all-new swift model. While it took almost 45 years for Suzuki to achieve the same in Japan when compared to India.

Out of its 2 crores, production alto has its maximum share of 31.7 lakh, while the swift 2018 was the 2 crore product from its Gujarat plant.


Suzuki motors have achieved the production of 20 million units in India and stand second after Japan for its achievement. From December 1983 it took 34 years 5 months to reach this target and became the fastest country in reaching 20 million mark breaking the record of  45 years 9 months in Japan. Alto has been holding maximum production bagging on to 3.17 million models while the swift model being the 20 millionth model at Gujarat plant.

The Maruti 800 is the first model launched by Maruti Udyog, the parent company of Maruti Suzuki. Suzuki automobile production started in the year December 1983. The growing economy of India helped in increasing demand in production units.

Today India has three plants at Gurgaon, Manesar and Gujarat, providing 100% subsidiary for automobile production in India. Baleno, Ertiga, swift, dezire and Vitara brezza are some of the 16 models being in production. As a result, approximately 1.78 million units were produced in India for the  FY2017 very efficiently. 1.65 million units were sold in India, while 130000 units were exported to many countries like Asia, Africa and Latin America.
