Sunny 2.0 from Nissan, will be an Indian version of “Versa”

Nissan introduces it’s “Versa”, the next gen Sunny for India. Sunny was the first in range with immense space that made it a blockbuster. Nissan sales boosted to a whole new level expanding it’s market significantly. Not to forget that this model is still a significant competitor in it’s class but it’s becoming tough. It’s right time that Nissan is coming with it’s new Versa when people at the verge of forgetting their trademark model.

“Kicks”, the latest entry into the Nissan’s fleet. A cross SUV that quite stylish and impressive one too. The next gen Sunny is likely to be an extension of kicks.

From the face, though it is evident that it will be the big brother of kicks. We can see the traditional V chrome grille with angular headlights with sweptback style. This look makes the face look more aggressive. The look will be contrast to the present one that is more calm from the looks. Coming to the sideprofile, we can see the rising shoulder line that’s sharp too. The roof now floats and slopes sharply to the boot. The rear door is bigger one and so we don’t have worry about it’s space at the back.

At the rear, the raised up boot comes with many cut and creases. The taillights are sharp and stylish too. Surprisingly, the alloy wheels now come with different style. On whole, we come to know that Nissan is increasing the style quotient for it’s sunny. The car comes with same DNA but in a new avatar. In other words, Nissan added sportiness to this classic vehicle.

Coming to interiors, we can see a similarity between kicks and sunny. The floating large screen dominates the dashboard above the HVAC controls. Also, majority of interior aspects match with the kicks. On the other hand, the top variants may get digital instrument cluster. We cannot forget the signature feature of the model – the space. At the rear, the leg room is the same but the head room is a bit reduced.

Engine & future:

Under the hood, Nissan offers the 1.6L petrol engine that churns out 124bhp of power. The mill will be mated with 5 speed manual or CVT automatic gear train. Incidentally, the same engine runs Nissan Kicks internationally. On the other hand, Nissan is yet to disclose the launching date in India. The car may take nearly one year to debut on the Indian roads, so we can expect a launch around early 2020.

Another interesting thing is its price tag. The model is around 6.99L to 9.94L ( Ex- Showroom). Once on road the model my give tough competition yet again. Generally, Sunny would be competing with Toyota Yaris, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and many more premium sedans. Significantly, it is evident that it’s space factor, price range and previous track record definitely impact customers decision.
